DE / RE CONSTRUCT was a collaborative project between Massey textile students ( Eva Ngamanu and myself) and textile design students at NIFT in New Delhi, India ( Vagisha Wadhwa and Anupriya Kanoi ).

This weaving project addressed the waste stream of excess textiles, particularly the waste transported to India or created by the vast textile industry. The process of this project included deconstructing pieces of fabric, with a focus on nature fibres, and using the weavers knot to reconstruct into wearable lengths. We then experimented with the possible lifting plans that would highlight the reconstructed nature of the yarn, rather than try to hide it. These samples were our final outcome.
